About

University Lake Park is a 64-acre municipal recreation area located in Anchorage’s U-Med District near Alaska Pacific University and the ANTHC medical campus. Formerly a gravel pit known as Behm Lake, the property was acquired in 1984 by the Municipality of Anchorage through a land trade with Heritage Land Bank for parks and recreation purposes. The park features a scenic lake stocked with rainbow trout, multiple trails for hiking and biking, designated off-leash dog park areas, picnic facilities, and access to the Chester Creek Greenbelt system, serving diverse user groups including joggers, dog owners, medical patients, and outdoor enthusiasts.
