Denali Sled Dog Kennels
About
Denali Sled Dog Kennels, operated by the National Park Service, has been a cornerstone of Denali National Park since its establishment in 1922. Located 3 miles inside the park at Park Headquarters, the kennels maintain approximately 30 Alaskan Huskies that serve dual purposes: conducting winter patrols and wildlife monitoring while also providing public demonstrations and educational programs throughout the year. Rangers and sled dogs work together year-round to protect the park’s wilderness and demonstrate traditional Alaskan dog sledding, with daily demonstrations offered during summer months and opportunities for visitors to tour the historic kennels building, which is the oldest structure in the park still used for its original purpose.
