Trail Breaker Kennel
About
Trail Breaker Kennel is a family-owned sled dog kennel in Fairbanks, Alaska, founded in 1976 by four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher and Yukon Quest champion David Monson. Now operated by David Monson and his daughters, the kennel offers visitors dog sled rides, kennel tours, and demonstrations showcasing Alaskan husky teams and the lifestyle of professional dog mushers. As one of Alaska’s longest-operating kennels, Trail Breaker Kennel has become a premier tourist destination featured on the Riverboat Discovery tour, with year-round activities that educate guests about sled dog care, training, and racing history.
