Parks, Forestry and Open Space is a department of the City of Lakewood that manages the city’s extensive park system, including 114 parks, 240 miles of trails, and 7,400 acres of open space. The department is responsible for maintaining the city’s natural resources and urban forest, including care of over 10,000 trees in parks and approximately 33,000 street trees, earning Lakewood recognition as a Tree City USA award-winner.
