About

The USMC CPL David M. Sonka Dog Park is Parker’s first municipal dog park, located at 17855 Pine Lane along Cherry Creek Trail. The nearly five-acre off-leash facility features separate areas for small and large dogs, shade structures, agility courses, drinking fountains, covered picnic tables, and a quarter-mile walking track. The park honors Corporal David M. Sonka, a Chaparral High School graduate who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013 alongside his military working dog Flex; the park was developed over several years as a community tribute to his service and legacy. Adjacent to the dog park is the 18-hole Westcreek Disc Golf Course, making the facility a dual-purpose recreation area for both dog owners and disc golf enthusiasts.
