Kīholo State Park Reserve
About
Kīholo State Park Reserve is a scenic coastal park located in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island, managed jointly by the Division of State Parks and the community group Hui Aloha Kiholo. The reserve features striking black lava fields, turquoise lagoons, black sand beaches, and abundant marine wildlife including green sea turtles, offering opportunities for hiking, snorkeling, fishing, and camping on weekends with permits. The park is currently under park reserve status and undergoing conceptual planning for future public use, while preserving its rugged natural landscape and historical significance as the site of ancient Hawaiian fishponds.
