Fort Harrison State Park Dog Park
About
Fort Harrison State Park Dog Park, located at 8725 Fall Creek Road in Indianapolis, is Indiana’s only dedicated off-leash dog park within the state park system, featuring over 10 acres across three separately fenced play areas designed for dogs of all sizes. The park opened in stages beginning in 2013 and includes Platoon Run (3.6 acres with agility equipment and a fireplace), Herrin Hill (1.3 acres of open grass), and Brigade Landing (5 acres with a pond and dog beach, open seasonally from April to October), all equipped with water stations, waste facilities, and seating areas. Community involvement includes the Friends of Fort Harrison supporting maintenance and volunteers, with the park dedicated to honoring Indiana Conservation Officer K-9 Teams, as evidenced by memorial benches recognizing the first two K-9 officers and their handlers.
