Phoenix Park
About
Phoenix Park is a public downtown park located at the intersection of Main and Limestone streets in Lexington, Kentucky. Built on the historic site of the Phoenix Hotel, which hosted five U.S. Presidents before closing in 1977, the park was established as a green space in 1984 and recently underwent major renovations completed in September 2025. The reimagined one-acre park features family-friendly amenities including modern playgrounds with an enclosed obstacle course, an improved dog park, a performance stage, splash pads, shade structures, and interactive fog areas, serving as a gathering place for downtown residents and visitors. Operated by Lexington Parks & Recreation, a division of the city government, Phoenix Park hosts regular community programming including performances, art classes, and special events, and is part of the larger Town Branch Commons development aimed at revitalizing downtown Lexington.
