Norm Schoenthal Island
About
Norm Schoenthal Island is a 130-acre public recreation area along the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana, developed by the nonprofit Yellowstone River Parks Association in the early 1990s. The park features over two miles of trails for walking, cycling, and fishing, welcoming leashed dogs and visitors of all abilities. Named after biology professor and YRPA founding member Norm Schoenthal, who helped establish the island and the nearby Montana Audubon Center, this popular destination remains under the jurisdiction of Billings Parks and Recreation while YRPA continues maintenance operations.
