About
Peirce Island is a 27-acre public recreational park owned and operated by the City of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Located in Portsmouth’s South End, the island features an outdoor swimming pool, walking trails with scenic waterfront overlooks, playgrounds, boat launch facilities, and picnic areas. With a rich history including the site of Revolutionary War-era Fort Washington and mid-1800s clipper ship construction, Peirce Island today provides residents and visitors with scenic views of salt marshes, tidal pools, rocky cliffs, and meadows, along with amenities for dogs, boating, and water recreation.
