Fort Ransom State Park
About
Fort Ransom State Park is a 950-acre public recreation area located in the scenic Sheyenne River Valley two miles north of Fort Ransom, North Dakota, that officially opened in 1979 and preserves the region’s homesteading heritage. The park operates as one of North Dakota’s designated horse parks with 68 corrals, and offers diverse recreational opportunities including canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, cross-country skiing, and camping, with accommodations ranging from basic sites to full-service yurts and covered wagons. The park maintains its community connection through the annual Sodbuster Days celebration, a family-friendly event featuring historical demonstrations of pioneer farming and homesteading life.
