Hondo Dog Park
About
Hondo Dog Park is a City of Hillsboro off-leash dog park located on nearly four acres in the northeast section of Hillsboro adjacent to Hillsboro Stadium. Opened in 2007 as the city’s first dog park, it features three distinct areas including sections for small and timid dogs, a large mixed-size play area, and an all-weather winter area that operates year-round, with amenities including dog water stations and volunteer-painted decorative fire hydrants. The park is named in honor of Hillsboro Police K9 Officer Hondo, who was killed in the line of duty in 1997, and benefits from community support including fundraising efforts by the Hillsboro Dog Association that resulted in evening lighting for the facility.
