Wanskuck Park
About
Wanskuck Park is a 25-acre public park located in the Wanskuck neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, featuring walking trails, wooded areas, and open fields. The park was established in 1948 when Louisa Dexter Sharpe Metcalf donated the former Metcalf family estate to the City of Providence along with $30,000 to develop and maintain it. The land has deep historical roots as the former country estate of Helen Adelia Rowe Metcalf, a principal founder of the Rhode Island School of Design, and Jesse Metcalf, a textile manufacturer and founder of the Wanskuck Company; the park now serves as a cherished community space at the northern edge of the Wanskuck Historic District.
