About

Lindsey Gardens is a historic 17.5-acre municipal park located in Salt Lake City’s Avenues neighborhood that offers diverse recreational facilities including baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, walking trails, and an off-leash dog area. Originally established in 1865 by English immigrant homesteaders Mark and Birthian Lindsey, the site evolved into Utah’s first amusement park before being acquired by the City of Salt Lake in 1928 after community residents petitioned for its preservation as a public park. Today, the park remains a centerpiece of the neighborhood, serving the community with its scenic hilltop location, mature trees, and mountain views while preserving its historic legacy.
