Urban Reserve
About
The Urban Reserve is a 45-acre lakefront property owned by the City of Burlington, Vermont, located on the waterfront between the Sailing Center and North Beach. Once the site of industrial lumber yards and petroleum facilities, the parcel was purchased by the city in 1991 and has since transformed into a natural preserve with restored ecosystems including wetlands, forests, and wildlife corridors connecting to Lake Champlain. Today, the Urban Reserve serves the community as a scenic recreational area featuring walking and biking paths, a dog park, and diverse wildlife habitat while supporting environmental conservation and stormwater management initiatives.
