Mountwood Park
About
Mountwood Park is a county park located in Walker, West Virginia on US Route 50, offering over 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, a 50-acre lake, campgrounds with primitive and full hookup sites, picnic areas, and recreational facilities. The park opened in the early 1980s and has served surrounding communities with outdoor recreational activities, events, and festivals for over three decades. Built on the historic site of Volcano, a late 19th-century oil boom town that burned in 1879, Mountwood Park celebrates this heritage through its annual Volcano Days festival and houses a World War II submarine memorial.
